GizmoDOH!
Looks like gizmodo has started to get some backlash for playing a prank on all of the TV manufacturer's during the Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas. Gizmodoe took a TV B-Gone, which will turn off any TV in the vicinity by going through all of the frequencies that an Infrared Remote would go through. While this trick may seem to be nice, it has created backlash within the blogging community.
CNet's Webware editor Rafe Needleman posted thison webware.com. Within the post Needleman had this to say
"I would not be surprised to see Gizmodo banned from the show and possibly sued by either the CEA or the companies its bloggers harassed." I whole heartily agree, this type of behavior from bloggers, when they bitch and moan about not being "legitimate" press is the type of thing that shows that they do not deserve to be "true" press.
This type of behavior would be expected from someone more about Aaron Broder's age.
Something like this is devastating to those legitimate bloggers who try to cover press events in a mature manner. This type of action disappoints me and several others. I'm debating on whether to unsubscribe to gizmodo's RSS Feed because of the actions of these bloggers.
